What we buy

Thirteen things worth more than most people think.

Most people bring in one and leave having sold three. Each line below is the actual test Cash for Gold applies — if yours isn't listed, bring it anyway, the look is free.

Silver

Sterling flatware & holloware

Cash for Gold evaluates sterling flatware, holloware, candlesticks, bowls and trays. Ask about markings, metal content and any non-metal parts before deciding whether to sell.

Five circulated pre-1965 United States ninety percent silver coins

Coins

Coins, currency & constitutional silver

Junk silver isn’t junk. Pre-1965 dimes, quarters and halves are 90% silver and trade on weight; a graded Morgan or a war nickel can be worth several times its metal. Cash for Gold buys coins on the higher of the two numbers — metal or collector — and checks both before quoting.

Bullion

Bars, rounds & dental gold

Bullion is the simplest transaction at the Cash for Gold counter in Johnson City — weight, purity, spot, done. Dental gold is the one almost nobody advertises: crowns, bridges and partials carry real recoverable gold, porcelain still attached is fine, and it is tested discreetly.

.999 and .9999 · crowns, bridges, partials · porcelain intact is fine

What Cash for Gold does not buy

Gold-plated and gold-filled pieces below our recovery threshold. Silverplate — anything marked EPNS, "Rogers," or "silver on copper." Costume jewelry with no precious metal in it. We'll still tell you what you have and why, at no charge.

A buyer who says they take absolutely anything has not told you anything. Cash for Gold publishes the exclusions because a wasted drive from Unicoi costs you an hour and costs us a customer.

What is the difference between a gold buyer, a pawn shop, and a jeweler?

A gold buyer purchases metal outright and prices it on weight and purity. A pawn shop lends against your item as collateral and can also buy it. A jeweler resells finished pieces, so a piece worth more intact than melted is worth most to them.

Cash for Gold buys outright and does not lend. Nothing is held against a loan, and there is no interest and nothing to redeem.

Bring it broken, tangled, unsorted

Sorting it is our job, not yours.
